LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Khadevis Robinson was named as an assistant track and field coach at UNLV, head coach Yvonne Scott announced on Tuesday. Robinson will be in charge of developing the middle and distance runners as well as the Rebel cross country team.

"We are very fortunate to have Coach Robinson join our staff," said Scott. "He brings with him a wealth of talent and experience, but most of all his passion for the sport and commitment to the development of young people. We are truly excited to have him help move our program to the next level."

Robinson, who participated in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, is a four-time USA Outdoor champion (1999, '05, '06 and '07) and four-time USA Indoor champion (1999, '06, '08 and '09). He was the outdoor runner-up four times, as well (2002, '03, '04 and '05).

In 2006, he posted 11 of the top 12 outdoor times by an American and was ranked seventh in the world by Track & Field News. He set his personal-best time of 1:43.68 that same year at a meet in Rome, Italy, which placed him as the seventh fastest American 800m runner of all time.

In an eight-year period, beginning in 2002, Robinson was ranked either first or second in the United States by the publication.

On the collegiate level, he won four conference titles in a three-year period and took home the 1998 NCAA Outdoor championship in the 800m running for his alma mater, TCU. He anchored the Horned Frogs to a runner-up finish in the 4x400 championship that same year.

Robinson, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, is a 1998 graduate of TCU, where he earned his undergraduate degree in social work. He received his master's degree in 2004 from Cal State Los Angeles in public administration.

Robinson has spent the past decade training and competing while coaching athletes from all age groups. "KD" as he is known in the track and field community has continued to have a successful running career as one of the United States' elite 800m athletes. He has also spent time as a public speaker, an educator at Santa Monica Unified School District and running his non-profit coaching organization, The Youth Track and Running Club (YTRC).
