Gong Claims Second Consecutive NEWMAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second consecutive week, MIT junior Maryann Gong (Livermore, Calif.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, as announced by the conference office earlier this afternoon.
Gong finished first overall for the first time in her career this weekend at the Connecticut College Invitational with a time of 21:31.3. Gong helped the Engineers to a first place finish as a team, as the Cardinal and Gray had four runners in the top-12 at the meet.
MIT, ranked No. 4 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, returns to action in two weeks for the NEWMAC Championships scheduled for Sunday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m.
