NEW ORLEANS –   The Colorado men stayed at No. 1 in the latest USTFCCCA Poll, while the women dropped one spot to third overall.  
The men’s team has been ranked first all season long, but only recorded 11 of the 12 first-place votes this week. Syracuse, the second-ranked team, picked up the remaining first-place nod. Oregon remained third this week, while BYU moved into the top five at fourth overall, jumping up from ninth last week. Michigan also jumped into the top five this week, moving up from eighth. CU is also ranked first in the regional poll.
The men’s team won the NCAA Pre-National Invitational, defeating Oregon 89-151. Pierce Murphy led the team with a fifth-place finish, while Connor Winter placed ninth. Ammar Moussa and Morgan Pearson were 14th and 15th, respectively, while John Dressel rounded out the team score with a 46th place finish, his first in a CU uniform.
The women’s team was ranked third this week behind New Mexico and Michigan, respectively. Arkansas came in fourth this week, while Oregon moved down to fifth after being ranked fourth in the previous poll. The Buffs are second in the regional rankings behind UNM.
The women placed second at pre-nationals behind Michigan (131-151) and were led by a very strong performance by Erin Clark, who won the race in 20:00.5. Kaitlyn Benner was 15th overall and Maddie Alm took 18th. Dani Jones was fourth for the Buffs, finishing 62nd, while Melanie Nun was 67th overall.
The next action for CU is the Pac-12 Championships on Oct. 30 in Colfax, Wash.
