Wilson Wins Silver At IAAF World T&F Championships In Russia


Trojan volunteer assistant takes second in the 110m HH

Ryan Wilson won a silver medal by taking second place in the men's 110m HH final at the IAAF World Track and Field Championships held in Moskva, Russia today (Aug. 12). Also, former Trojans Duane Solomon advanced to the men's 800m finals and Dalilah Muhammad in the women's 400m IH and Felix Sanchez in the men's 400m IH advanced out of the first round.

Wilson ran a time of 13.13 to take second in the 110m HH final, behind fellow American David Oliver who ran a world-leading time of 13.00 to win the gold medal. USA had four of the top six finishers in the final. Wilson advanced to the finals by winning his heat in the first round with a time of 13.37 and advanced out of the semifinals with a time of 13.20.

Wilson, who is currently a volunteer assistant coach at USC, won the USA 110m HH title in June with a time of 13.08 by just edging out Oliver.

Another 2013 USA champion Duane Solomon has advanced to tomorrow's 800m final by posting the fastest qualifying time of 1:43.87 in the semifinals on Aug. 11. In the first round on Aug. 10, Solomon won his heat with a time of 1:45.80.

Muhammad, the 2013 USA champion in the 400m IH, advanced to tomorrow's semifinals by winning her first-round heat today in a time of 54.90. That time was the second-fastest among the qualifiers.

2012 Olympic gold medalist Felix Sanchez also won his first round heat today with a time of 49.20 to advance to tomorrow's semifinals. His time was the third-fastest qualifier.
