Aaron Brown earned a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay today (Aug. 18) and Nia Ali placed 10th in the 100m high hurdles yesterday to conclude USC's action at the 2013 IAAF World Track & Field Championships in Moscow, Russia.

Brown ran the second leg for Canada's 4x100m relay team which placed third with a season-best time of 37.92 to take home the bronze medal. Canada actually had trouble on its final exchange and finished fourth, but Great Britain, which edged the Canadians, was determined post -race to have had an illegal pass between its second and third runner. It was a bit of retribution for Brown and the Canadians, who had finished in third at the 2012 Olympics, only to lose its bronze by being disqualified following the race.

Brown, entering his senior season at USC, helped lead Canada to its first sub-38 second clocking and first global championships medal since 1997. It was also just the fourth time in history that all three medal-winning teams had broken 38 seconds. Brown placed fifth in the 100m and 200m races at the 2013 NCAA Championships.

Ali placed third in her women's 100m HH semifinal heat and 10th overall with a time of 12.83 on Aug. 17. The top eight runners advanced to the finals. Ali reached the semifinals with a time of 13.19 in the first round on Aug. 16, despite fighting through leg cramps.
