USATF recognizes high school athletes in Honor Roll program

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
USA Track & Field on Tuesday launched a first-of-its kind program that recognizes and promotes high school and cross country state champion teams, and their coaches, throughout the country.

The USATF Honor Roll honors state champions in track and field and cross country in each division and from all 50 states. Beginning with state track and field champions from earlier this spring, as part of the program, state team champions and the schools’ principals will receive a personal letter from USATF CEO Max Siegel, a discount on an official USATF Honor Roll t-shirt or any other product at USATF’s online store, and recognition on an interactive map on the newly designed web page www.usatf.org/HonorRoll. The interactive map provides a tool for track fans around the country to view all state championship teams through a single portal.

“Competing for their high schools is where so many people develop their passion for track and field,” USATF CEO Max Siegel said. “Regardless of whether they go on to compete at the next level, all of this country’s high school athletes and coaches are part of the global track and field community, and the USATF family. We are pleased to be able to aggregate the team state champion information, and to provide a means of honoring these athletes and coaches.”

The USATF Honor Roll program and website are part of USATF’s recently launched Future Stars program, an online resource for youth athletes offering health and training tips from St. Vincent Sport Performance, social media photo galleries featuring photos taken and tagged by young athletes, and a monthly contest to engage USATF’s largest single membership demographic.
