3/12/2010

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Sacramento State's Lea Wallace [Napa, Calif./Vintage HS 2006; Cal Poly] advanced to the finals of the women's 800 during the first day of the 2010 NCAA Div. I Indoor Track and Field Championships at Arkansas.

Wallace, who was one of three Hornets competing at the meet, ran 2:05.27 in the first of three heats. Her time placed her second in the heat and automatically advanced her into Saturday's final. Overall, the junior is seeded fifth in the event. With only eight student-athletes advancing to the final, Wallace is assured of qualifying as an All-American.

Also competing in the 800 was Renisha Robinson [San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty HS]. The junior ran 2:08.71 to place fifth in her heat and 16th overall.

Ronald Brookins [San Diego, Calif./Helix HS] shattered his own school record in the 60-hurdles with a time of 7.84 seconds. However, the junior just missed advancing to the finals as he was .04 seconds off the last qualifying time.
