Camarena and Reese advance in Doha

DOHA, Qatar - Jillian Camarena (Woodland HS, Stanford) only needed one throw while Brittney Reese took three jumps, as each qualified for their respective finals Saturday morning at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships, March 12-14, in the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar.

Team USA's men's 4x400m rolled through qualifying and into the Sunday night's final. The quartet of Greg Nixon, LeJerald Betters, Tavaris Tate and Kerron Clement won heat 1 in 3:05.78. It was the fastest time of the day.

Six-time USA Indoor shot put champion Jillian Camarena and 2009 World Outdoor long jump champion Brittney Reese qualifying for the finals in their respective events. Camarena Hit the automatic qualifier on her first throw with a heave of 18.85m/61-10.25 while Reese jumped 6.52m/21-4.75 to move on to the final. 2009 World Outdoor finalist Brianna Glenn (La Mirada HS, CA; Arizona finished 10th in the women's long jump qualifying with a mark of 6.40m/21-0 and 2009 World Outdoor sixth-place finisher Michelle Carter was 13th in women's shot qualifying with a season's best 18.20m/59-8.5. Neither advanced.

2006 NACAC U23 champion Duane Solomon [Lompoc, Ca (Cabrillo HS, USC) was sitting in second place with 25m to go in the men's 800m semifinal when there was some bumping and jostling in the pack and he fell back to fifth. Solomon ended the race in fifth in 1:51.82.
