Shuler wins pole vault in meet record, Kowalsky wins shot put for Bears outdoors at Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO - California sophomore Patrick Kowalsky and junior Ryan Shuler posted NCAA outdoor regional qualifying marks in winning the men's shot put and pole vault, respectively, on Saturday at the Hornet Invitational held at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium. Kowalsky notched a qualifying mark of 56-8 (17.27 meters), while Shuler claimed a qualifying mark of 16-6.75 (5.05 meters) to tie the meet record.
Cal sent a small contingent of Golden Bears to Sacramento, not including any of the nine athletes it sent to the recent NCAA Indoor Championships.
The Bears return to action at the UC Multis hosted by UC Davis March 25-26 in Davis, Calif.
