SEATTLE, Wash. - A handful of distance runners highlighted the final day of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships for the Long Beach State track and field team as it wrapped up action at the conference meet Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.

Senior Carly Harris bettered her previous school record of 9:47.24 in the 3000-meter run as she finished the race in 9 minutes, 37.57 seconds. In the same event, senior Kristina Wilson crossed the finish line in 9:56.80 to rank third on the 49er all-time list. The race concluded a good weekend for Wilson, who also established the second-best mark in the 5000m on Friday.

Junior Missy Barclay also had a strong meet, placing seventh in the mile run with a school-record 4:53.57. It was the second record of the weekend for Barclay as she was a part of women's distance medley relay that topped the 49er charts at 11:52.79 on Friday.

In the field events, senior Miia Mobley placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 39-08.75, establishing a new 49er record.

Freshman Janelle Coulter cleared 5-08.50 in the high jump and came up just short of an NCAA provisional mark on one of her attempts.

On the men's side, junior Kenneth Medwood led the 49ers with a strong race in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 48.71 seconds. Medwood also competed in the long jump, where he now ranks fourth all-time with a mark of 23-06.75.

Junior Alex Freitas performed well in the 800-meter run, finishing eighth overall at 1:50.63. Freshman Matt Maldonado, meanwhile, had a time of 1:54.13 in the same race.

Senior Brent Gray, who advanced to the 60-meter finals yesterday with a mark of 6.82 had to pull out of the race due to a hamstring injury. With Christopher Lawson and Richard Crawford also out with injuries, the 49er men were unable to compete in the 4x400 meter relay.

Long Beach State opens the outdoor season, March 6-7, at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton, Calif.
