Funeral services scheduled today for longtime firefighter Anthony Stephens, 58
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — Services will be held this morning for a longtime member of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.
Anthony Curtis Stephens, 58, of Las Vegas passed away Nov. 29 after a bout with cancer. In his 25 years with LVFR, Stephens served as a firefighter, paramedic and fire investigator before his retirement.
In 2005, he was promoted to Senior Fire Investigator of the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Arson & Bomb Squad.
He is the fifth firefighter that died of cancer over the past 10 years. In the state of Nevada, firefighters that fall because of cancer is considered a line of duty death. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death for firefighters.
A motorcade will leave the Las Vegas Fire Training Center, 633 N. Mojave Road, around 9 a.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m. at Canyon Ridge Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Road.
