“We had a good meet to begin the season, especially being able to compete against other athletes besides ourselves,” Navy head coach Carla Criste said. “There are still a few areas on the team that we are hoping get stronger and healthier in these next couple weeks before we really get into our indoor schedule.”
Coming off a strong cross country year, senior Morgan O’Connor (Sammamish, Wash.) set a good pace to the meet for Navy, finishing first in the 5,000-meter run with a mark of 17:46.35. Sophomore Audrey Brandon (Lima, Ohio) led Navy in the throwing events, shattering her career-best mark in the weight throw, placing third with a toss of 47-7.25 (14.51m), which is a little under four feet of her previous best (43ft-8in, 13.51m).
