NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Monday the 80 student-athletes who earned All-America honors by finishing among the top-40 in the men’s and women’s races at the 2015 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships this past weekend.

There were only two teams with five All-Americans — the Colorado men and the New Mexico women.

It should come as no surprise that the Lady Lobos had the most All-Americans out of any women’s team, since they ran away with their first national title in program history. New Mexico scored the fewest points ever recorded in the modern era (49) and posted the fifth largest margin of victory in meet history (80 points). Those All-Americans for the Lady Lobos were Courtney Frerichs (fourth place), Alice Wright (fifth place), Rhona Auckland (13th place), Calli Thackery (15th place) and Molly Renfer (24th).

While the Buffaloes didn’t win the title — No. 2 Syracuse ruined Colorado’s bid at winning three consecutive crowns — they had the most finishers in the top-40. Pierce Murphy (third) was the lone Buffalo in the top-10, while Morgan Pearson (25th), John Dressel (26th), Ben Saarel (31st) and Connor Winter (33rd) all packed up behind him.

The Orange was the only DI team with four All-Americans and each of them helped lead the program to its first national title since 1951. Justyn Knight, Colin Bennie and Martin Hehir all finished in the top-10, while Philo Germano slipped inside All-America status with a 39th-place showing.

Each third-place team — the Oregon women and the Stanford men — fittingly had three All-Americans. The Ducks flew together as Waverly Neer (27th), Alli Cash (31st) and Molly Grabill (33rd) all crossed the finish line around the same time. The Cardinal were paced by the usual suspects (Jim Rosa and Sean McGorty), while freshman Grant Fisher shined in his first 10K race (17th place).

There were six men’s teams with two All-Americans.
◾Arkansas — Jack Bruce (23rd), Frankline Tonui (40th)
◾Colorado State — Jefferson Abbey (13th), Jerrell Mock (19th)
◾South Dakota State — Trent Lusignan (24th), Joel Reichow (36th)
◾Tulsa — Marc Scott (10th), Luke Traynor (34th)
◾UTEP — Jonah Koech (11th), Anthony Rotich (15th)
◾Washington — Izaic Yorks (30th), Colby Gilbert (32nd)

And there were four women’s teams with two All-Americans.
◾Boise State — Allie Ostrander (2nd), Brenna Peloquin (9th)
◾Colorado — Erin Clark (11th), Kaitlyn Benner (16th)
◾Notre Dame — Molly Seidel (champion), Anna Rohrer (sixth)
◾Providence — Sarah Collins (20th), Catarina Rocha (39th)

Of note, Ostrander, Peloquin and Rohrer were three of seven freshmen to earn All-American honors in the women’s race. Sharon Lokedi of Kansas, Ednah Kurgat of Liberty, Caroline Pietrzyk of Vanderbilt and Tessa Barrett of Penn State were the others.

At the conference level, the Pac-12 dominated with 19 All-Americans (12 men, seven women), while the Mountain West had 11 (eight women, three men) for the second most. The ACC brought home 10 honors (seven men, three women), while the SEC nabbed seven (five women, two men).

National Athletes and Coaches of the Year will be announced Tuesday.
