AUSTIN, Texas – The California Golden Bears track & field team were in two finals on Saturday in Austin, Texas at the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Senior Milan Ristic finished third in the 110-meter hurdles, after running a wind-aided 13.59 Saturday afternoon in the final. Additionally, Cal’s 4x100-meter relay team finished sixth with a time of 40.31 on Saturday after having qualified for the final Friday with a time of 40.24.

“We are really pleased with how sharp we were on the second day,” Director of track & field Tony Sandoval said on Saturday afternoon. “Milan’s time in the 110-meter hurdles would have been a career best, except it was just over 2.00 for wind, but he will continue to run even better as the season progresses. Sixth place in the relay out of lane one was very impressive, considering we qualified ninth in the prelims.”

Cal’s 4x100-meter relay team comprised of freshman Khalfani Muhammad, redshirt seniors Tom Blocker, Dash Oliver and Ristic posted a time of 40.31 and placed sixth in Saturday’s final. The Bears finished behind Florida, who set a new meet record (38.29), Texas A&M (38.30), Baylor (39.39), Auburn (39.17) and Louisiana Tech (39.66). Cal’s time in Saturday’s final was just behind their qualifying time on Friday of 40.24.

Ristic, who also competed earlier in the day in the 4x100 relay, had a very impressive showing in the 110-meter hurdles with a third place finish, posting a wind-aided time of 13.59 (+2.1). The transfer from UNC Asheville had qualified for the final yesterday with a new legal PR of 13.71, which is just one hundredth of a second behind the Serbian national record. In Saturday’s final, Ristic finished behind Texas A&M senior Wayne Davis II (13.442) and Florida senior Evan Lovett (13.448).

California now prepares for a very busy weekend ahead, as they will be sending various contingents to three separate meets; the San Francisco State Distance Festival (Friday, April 4), the Stanford Invitational (Friday and Saturday) and the tri-meet in Charlottesville, Va. against Virginia and Michigan (Saturday, April 5).
