Korir 3rd, Saina 4th at Silicon Valley Turkey Trot 5k


(San Jose, CA) - Leonard Korir (Nike) medaled for the second year in a row taking 3rd-place at Thursday's Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot 5k in San Jose, CA, while Betsy Saina (Nike) finished 4th in the women's race. Korir, who posted a time of 13:40.44, traded the lead for much of the race but was nipped at the line by Diego Estrada but still picked up $850 for his efforts. Anthony Mallory finished in 17th-place in the deep field setting a personal best at 14:29.03.


Saina mixed it up with Olympians Kim Conley, who got the win, and Sally Kipyego who finished runner-up, and pushed the pace in the middle in her return to competition after an extended break. Outkicked at the line, she posted a solid mark of 15:44.72 and earned $500. Rochelle Kanuho and Brittni Hutton, both competing for adidas/BRC and both making their professional road race debuts, set big personal bests for the 5k distance finishing 11th in 16:05.75 and 13th in 16:14.79, respectively.

Birdsong 3rd at Ft. Collins Thanksgiving Day 4-Miler; Thomas 4th


(Colorado Springs, CO) - Brandon Birdsong (adidas/BRC) hung with eventual winner Australian Olympian David McNeill and even challenged for the win over the final mile of the Fort Collins Thanksgiving Day Run 4-Miler. Being passed by Fernando Cabada in the last half mile, Birdsong finished in 3rd-place in an official clock time of 18:59, though the start was delayed by 10-seconds. He picked up $300 for his performance.


In the women's race, Brianne Nelson (adidas/BRC) was unable to defend her title as she was sick with the flu, but teammate Wendy Thomas managed 4th-place in 22:17 picking up $150 for the finish.

(Colorado Springs, CO) - Jess Petersson (Marathon Sports) finished in 10th-place at Thursday's 77th-annual Manchester Road Race in Manchester, CT. She posted a time of for 25:44 the traditional Thanksgiving Day race held over a non-traditional 4.748-mile distance. She earned $600 for her finish.
