ADP To Host American Distance Summit In Charlotte Featuring Coaches Frank "Gags" Gagliano and Ryan Ponsonby

Early Bird Registration Saves $50

(Charlotte, NC) - The American Distance Project announces they will once again host the ADP American Distance Summit in Charlotte, NC, January 5-6, 2013. The fifth year edition of the Summit will have a focus on middle distance events and will feature Frank "Gags" Gagliano and Ryan Ponsonby, as well as Bart Sessa.

Gagliano, a legend in the sport, is currently the coach of the New Jersey/New York Track Club, but his career has spanned decades starting out at Roselle Catholic High School in New Jersey, then moving on to coach in college at Rutgers and Georgetown Universities before founding the Nike Farm Team and then heading up the resurgent Oregon Track Club. Gags has produced over 140 NCAA All-Americans in addition to countless World Championship and Olympic team members. A few of his current and former charges include Olympians Nick Symmonds (800), Jullie Cullie (5k), Erin Donohue (1500), Christian Smith (800) and Nicole Teter (800).

Ryan Ponsonby, coaching for the Austin Track Club alongside legendary coach John Cook, is a brilliant young coach who guided Leonel Manzano to the Silver Medal in the 1500m at the 2012 London Olympics. While Ponsonby is the personal coach of Manzano and Jacob Hernandez, he also assists with the Austin club's roster that includes Shannon Rowbury, David Torrence, Trennier Moser and Pablo Solares.

Bart Sessa is the long-time coach at Syosset High School (N.Y.) His 2005 4x800-meter team won the Penn Relays Championship of America and broke the National High School Indoor Record for that event. Under Sessa's direction, Syosset has a 4x800m school record of 7:35. His current team includes a sophomore-only 4x800 relay that posted a mark of 7:47 last spring.
In addition to the three headliners, additional speakers will be announced over the next month.
