October 25, 2011
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released week six regional rankings for the NCAA Division II 2011 season on Tuesday. After the division’s conference championship weekend, three new number ones emerged from the previous week. On the men’s side, Western State is the new No. 1 team in the Central region and Stonehill now heads the East. Both squads are in the region’s top spot for the first time this year. On the women’s side, Grand Valley State retakes the top spot in the Midwest region — a spot they held in the preseason rankings.
In addition, several teams are new to the regional top ten this week for the first time this season:
MEN – Seton Hill (Atlantic), Fort Hays State (South Central), Saint Martin’s (West)LACEY, WASHINGTON
WOMEN – Wheeling Jesuit (Atlantic), Metro State (Central), Le Moyne (East), Cal State LA (West).
USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with current-season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships.
The NCAA Regional Championships will be held on Saturday, November 5.
