Oregon track and field: Reloaded relay looks to repeat surprise feat

Keshia Baker (Fairfield HS, CA), who was Johnson’s first recruit at Oregon, graduated last spring. She was the leader of the sprint crew as the school record-holder in the 400, indoors (51.63) and outdoors (50.76).

Baker provided one of the defining moments at last year’s NCAA outdoor meet when she held off Texas A&M’s Jessica Beard on the anchor leg of the 4x400 relay to deliver a heart-stopping victory at Hayward Field.

“(Baker) is irreplaceable,” Johnson said. “Every day, I wonder what it would be like to have her here for one more year.”
