Frank Sloman (Polytechnic High School, San Francisco) ran the 440 yard straightaway in 48 1-5s (48.2) at Exposition Stadium, San Francisco on October 16, 1915. They timed races in fifths of a second in those days. He ran the first 400 yards in 42.6.
