  • Also took the ninth spot on the school's all-time top 10 in the shot put with a throw of 15.21m (49-11) at the Hoosier Open.

  • Stamatia Scarvelis is the daughter of George and Alexandra Scarvelis
  • Has two brothers named Steven and Nicholas who both were collegiate track and field athletes. Nicolas represented Greece in the shot put at the Rio Olympics.
  • Attended Dos Pueblos High School in Santa Barbara, Calif., where she earned four letters and was a team captain
  • Rated as the No. 1 shot putter in the country in high school
  • USA Track and Field Junior National Champion and Pan American Games gold medalist
  • A three-time CIF State Champion in the shot put
  • First California female prep athlete to win three straight state titles in the shot put
  • Won the state title in the discus in 2014 after finishing 2013 in third place
  • Redshirted her freshman year at UCLA and then competed in 2016 finishing as the fifth ranked hammer thrower and 10th ranked shot putter in school history
