USC Wins Three Events During First Day Of McCravy Invitational

Margaux Jones won the women's long jump, Eric Sloan the men's long jump, Amalie Iuel the women's 600-yard race and Brittany Mann set the USC school record in the women's weight throw during the first day of action at the 2017 Rod McCravy Invitational held in Lexington, Ky. today (Jan. 20). • Jones won the women's long jump with a leap of 20-2.50 (6.16m). She posted that mark in the third and sixth rounds. Courtney Corrin in her first collegiate meet took second with a jump of 19-8.75 (6.01m). That jump places her ninth on USC's indoor all-time top 10 list in the event. Madisen Richards made it a sweep for USC by placing third with an indoor PR of 19-4.25. (5.90m). She PR'd three times in the event. • Sloan won the men's long jump with a jump of 25-4.75 (7.74m) in his third attempt. He passed on his final three jumps. Dominic Smallwood placed sixth with a PR of 24-5.50 (7.45m) in his final attempt. That jump moved him into 10th on USC's all-time indoor long jump list. • Iuel won the second heat and had the best time of the day of 1:19.56 in the women's 600-yard race. Cameron Pettigrew won her heat with a PR of 1:19.96 to finish second overall. • Mann placed fifth in the women's weight throw, setting the USC record in the event with a mark of 61-7.00 (18.59m) on her fourth throw. She also had a mark of 61-0 (18.59m) in her second throw which broke the previous school record of 57-5.00 (17.59) set by Erika Peyton last season.
 

 

Lyndsey Lopes finished fifth in the pentathlon with a PR of 3,602 points and Alexa Harmon-Thomas placed seventh with a total of 3,434 point. • In the pentathlon 60m hurdles, Lopes had a time of 8.92 for 927 points and Harmon-Thomas a time of 9.16, good for 877 points. Lopes was just .01 off her PR. • Harmon-Thomas tied for 4th in the heptathlon high jump and tied her indoor PR of 5-5.75 (1.67m), earning 818 points. Lopes cleared 5-3.25 (1.61m) to finish seventh in the event and earn 747 points. • Lopes had a big PR of 36-5.00 (11.10m) in the pentathlon shot put to finish third in the event and earn 602 points. Harmon-Thomas had a mark of 31-7.25 (9.63m) which took ninth and earned 505 points. • Harmon-Thomas was third in the pentathlon long jump with a PR of 17-11.75 (5.48m) and Lopes was sixth with a jump of 17-6.00 (5.33m). They earned 694 and 651 points respectively. • Randall Cunningham placed sixth in the men's high jump with a clearance of 6-8.75 (2.05m). He passed up to that height and made it in his second attempt, then missed three attempts at 6-10.75 (2.10m). • David Sellens placed 10th in the men's weight throw with a mark of 59-0.00 (17.98m), one spot out of advancing to the finals. • Anna Cockrell (23.78), Ky Westbrook (23.79) and Destinee Brown (23.92) won their women's 200m heats and placed fourth, fifth and seventh respectively. Kyra Constantine ran 24.35 to take second in her heat and 14th overall. Jasmyne Graham was third in her heat and 33rd overall with a time of 24.83. • Zyaire Clemes (21.44) and Ricky Morgan Jr. (21.54) both won their men's 200m heats and placed third and fourth respectively.
