LEXINGTON, Ky. — Baylor freshman Aailyah Miller seems to be having no trouble making the transition to college track and field. Miller clocked a world-leading time in the 800-meter dash, one of three event titles Baylor’s track and field team claimed on Saturday to close the Rod McCravy Invitational.
Miller ran 2:03.43 to win the race, the second-fastest indoor time in school history behind Olicia Williams (2:03.21). According to research from DyeStat, the mark is believed to be an NCAA record for a freshman.
Baylor’s women also picked up a win in the triple jump from senior Brianna Richardson (42-8). The BU women also charged to a silver in the 4x400 relay with a school-record clocking of 3:32.09. Running on that team were Taylor Bennett, Kiana Hawn, Kiana Horton and Leticia De Souza.
On the men’s side, BU freshman Max Willis sped to a win in the 60-meter dash at 6.65 seconds, the sixth-fastest time in the country.
The Bears will next run at the Charlie Thomas Invitational Feb. 3-4 in College Station.
