Frank Murphy (Villanova)

IT IS WITH A VERY HEAVY HEART that I share news of the passing earlier today of Villanova and Irish Olympian, Frank Murphy at the age of 69 due to complications from Parkinson's.
A 1968 and 1972 Olympian, Frank was a sub 4:00 miler as well as Ireland's very first athlete under 1:48 for 800, under 3:40 at 1500, and under 14:00 for 5,000 meters.
As a young lad growing up in Philadelphia where Villanova University resides, I had the privilege of following Frank's career closely......he was a total track rock star to me in those days.
Heaven's 4 x 1 mile relay team just got an epic anchor man while we here on earth lost an athletic legend...R.I.P. Frank Murphy ;{
