Leo Manzano Headlines Diversity Panel
At Running USA 2014 powered by ACTIVE Network, one of the general sessions will be "How to Bring More Diversity to the Sport". Slated for Tuesday, February 11 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m., the panel will include Leo Manzano, 2012 Olympic 1500m silver medalist. Find more information HERE.


Women's National Runner Survey to Debut at Conference

Do you have a race photo that would be a perfect fit for the front cover of the 2014 Women's National Runner Survey? Do you have a photo you love and represents your event? Submit your photos today! The winning photo will grace the cover photo of our newest report to be released at Conference. Just submit your photo(s) to tracy@runningusa.org. Photo Submission DEADLINE: January 8, 2014. Up to (2) photos per organization can be submitted. Photos must include the following: female novice runner or runners with preference of no ear phones and must be a vertical portrait. Low-resolution copies can be submitted via email but winning photo must be presented in 300 dpi resolution and 2MB. By submitting your photo you hereby release Running USA to use the winning photo as a cover shot for the Women's National Runner Survey, or in future publications.

In 2013, Running USA had media mentions in more than 110 publications with a print circulation exceeding 80 million, an annual record for the organization.

Member Profile: Mermaid Series



Mermaid started in 2004, as one of the first all women's triathlon and duathlon events in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mermaid shed her fins in 2005, adding a women's 5k, 10k, and half marathon. Mermaid Series is now a six-event series consisting of two triathlon and duathlon events and four running events, expanding to cities such as San Diego in 2010, and Phoenix in 2013.



The mission has been consistent since the very beginning. Provide women with a platform to experience the joy of crossing the finish line. Some Mermaids cross the finish line to set a new PR and many Mermaids walk and enjoy the social race atmosphere. "Crossing the finish line is an incredible accomplishment and we celebrate every Mermaid Athlete," says Carlo Facchino, Owner and Race Director of the Mermaid Series.



Mermaid continues to grow organically at a steady pace. Over 25,000 Mermaids have crossed the finish line since the first event in 2004, and over 8,000 will do so in 2014 .

Little Rock Marathon Unveils Medals

The Little Rock Marathon unveiled its 2014 finisher's medals as it makes preparations for another "sell out" event, confirming the race is quickly reaching its 15,000 participant limit. The 12th Annual Little Rock Marathon Race Weekend, presented by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, is slated for February 28 - March 2, 2014.



ACTIVE Network to Provide Expertise at Upcoming Conferences

ACTIVE Network™ announced its upcoming schedule for sharing best practices for race management via ACTIVE Network representatives who will focus on topics including marketing, technology, and charity fundraising.
