SOPHOMORE (2013): Two-time Mountain West champion (indoor mile, outdoor 1500-meter run)...two-time all-conference honoree...received the program's Most Outstanding Competitive Athlete Award...finished third in quarterfinal of the 1500-meter run (3:45.05) at the West Preliminary to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships...clocked a career-best time of 3:44.38 to become the Academy's first Mountain West champion in that event...that time was a new MW Championship-Meet record...it is also the third-best time in Air Force history and a new Sophomore Class Record...also competed in the 1500-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational (seventh, 3:45.54) and at the Stanford Invitational (sixth, 3:46.09)...also competed in the 800-meter run on three occasions during the outdoor season...clocked the 10th-fastest time in Academy history (1:50.63) during the qualifying heat of the MW Championships...ran on the 4x800-meter relay team that clocked the second-fastest time in Academy history (7:35.07) at the Drake Relays...also competed on the distance medley relay that finished second (9:47.19) at that meet...won the mile at the MW Indoor Championships with a time of 4:08.23...bettered the field by two seconds at the conference meet...also won the mile at Nebraska's adidas Classic with a time of 4:09.54...clocked an altitude-adjusted mile time of 4:05.12 at the New Mexico Classic...that time is ranked seventh on the Academy's all-time list...it is also a new Sophomore Class Record...ran on the distance medley relay team that clocked the second-fastest time in Academy history (9:34.51) at the Alex Wilson Invitational.

FRESHMAN (2012): All-conference selection in the 1500-meter run...placed third at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships in that even with a time of 3:48.53 (adjusted for altitude)...set the program's Freshman Class Record in that distance (3:48.09a) during winning performance at the Front Range Classic...that time was ranked second on the team...competed in the 800-meter run once, clocking a time of 1:57.21 at the Beach Invitational...ran on the 4x1600-meter relay that finished fifth at the Drake Relays (16:52.98)...also ran on the outdoor distance medley relay team that finished second at the Air Force Relays (10:31.02)...competed in the 800-meter run and mile once during the indoor season...clocked an 800-meter time of 1:58.53a at the Air Force Team Challenge...recorded a mile mark of 4:18.33a at the New Mexico Classic...earned top-10 finishes in both...ran the leadoff leg of the two-mile relay that won the Air Force Blue-Silver Open (8:09.65)...also ran the first leg of the distance medley relay that took fourth at the New Mexico Classic (9:54.82a).

HIGH SCHOOL: Alameda High School...earned the MVP award for the track team...also named Most Improved for cross country...member of the soccer team...served as team captain.

PERSONAL: Full first name is Zachary, but goes by Zach...nickname is "Snake Bite"...son of Randy and Alyssa Perkins...father served in the Army and Coast Guard...has a twin brother, Charlie, who is a junior runner at the Air Force Academy...also has one older brother, Randy, who is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy...majoring in management...future plans include becoming a fighter pilot, engineer, doctor and aeronautical engineer...spent the summer completing Expeditionary Survival and Evasion Training (ESET)...also took biology and history classes...attended the Academy's Prep School...hobbies include figure skating and rollerblading...also likes to participate in rhythmic gymnastics...has "a passion for the arts; culinary, dance and photography" and enjoys "bedazzling and Zumba workouts"...member of Cadet Squadron 06.
