McLain Leads ADP USA Outdoor Track Qualifiers With 1500m A Standard at AMC HP Meet

(Indianapolis, IN) - Mack McLain (adidas/BRC) closed with a 55 last 400-meters to pass nine competitors to finish 3rd at the American Milers Club High Performance meet on Saturday earning a USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships automatic qualifying A standard and a four-second personal best at 3:39.81.

McLain will be joined in the 1500-meters with ADP miler Matt Elliott (Brooks), who posted an automatic mark of 3:57.16 at the Mile distance earlier in the season, and won the slow section of the 800-meters at Saturday's AMC HP with a personal best of 1:49.47 before pacing the fast heat of the 1500-meters.

Dey Dey, who won last Saturday's AMC High Performance 800-meteres with a personal best of 1:47.58, has also been accepted into the USA championships 800-meter field.

The USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, IA this from June 18-23. For the ADP, competition kicks off on Thursday with the first rounds of both the 800-meters and of the 1500-meters, while Augustus Maiyo (US Army/WCAP) will compete in the prelims of the men's steeplechase on Friday.

ADP Will Be Well Represented With Six Athletes At US Half Marathon Championships

(Colorado Springs, CO) - Three men and three women from the American Distance Project will compete in next Saturday's US Half Marathon Championships to be hosted by the Gary Bjorkland Half Marathon held in conjunction with Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN.

The ADP boasts a trio who could all contend for the title as Mattie Suver (adidas/BRC) is coming off of a runner-up finish at the US 25k Championships and a 1:12:22 personal best from her win at the St. Louis Half Marathon in April. adidas/BRC teammate Brianne Nelson, who was this spring's US 10-Miler runner-up, will look to improve on her personal best of 1:14:29, while teammate Wendy Thomas brings in a personal best of 1:12:56 from her 7th-place finish at last year's half marathon championship.

In the men's field, Daniel Tapia (Mizuno) looks to contend for the title after his breakout 9th-place finish at the Boston Marathon. Tapia will look to greatly improve on his two-year-old half-marathon best of 1:04:23, while Matt Levassiur (adidas/BRC) will look to improve his best of 1:04:47. Brandon Birdsong, also with adidas/BRC, will debut at the marathon distance after a solid finish of 7th-place at the Garden of the Gods 10-miler two weeks prior.
