First Regular-Season Men’s Watch List for The Bowerman Revealed
February 6, 2013

NEW ORLEANS – Familiar names grace the first regular-season edition of The Bowerman Men’s Watch List released Wednesday by the Watch List Committee, as all ten of student-athletes also appeared on the preseason edition.

While a pair of student-athletes – Duke’s Curtis Beach and Illinois State’s Tim Glover – have yet to begin their 2013 campaign, many others have come out and made early statements.

Arizona distance runner Lawi Lalang, who makes his 10th Watch List appearance, made perhaps the biggest statement with his 7:42.39 3000 meters performance, placing him third among collegians all-time. His ten appearances on the Watch List are the most among active student-athletes, and fifth-most all-time.

Three others – Arizona State thrower Jordan Clarke, and high jumpers Derek Drouin and Erik Kynard of Indiana and Kansas State, respectively – are also collegiate-leaders in their events.

With conference championships on tap prior to the next iteration of the Watch List, more strong performances from the current Watch Listers, honorable mention selections and student-athletes at large are surely in store.
