ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Alyssa Wisdom and Geoffrey Tabor gave Stanford a sweep of the shot put events at the Cherry and Silver Invitational indoor track and field meet at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Saturday.

Wisdom, a former Stanford sprinter, shattered her personal best twice in competition, and her winning put of 54-1¼ was more than two feet farther than her best of 51-9¾ coming into the meet. It also moved her up to No. 4 on Stanford's all-time indoor list.

On her first attempt, the senior from Coral Springs, Fla., reached 52-9¾ for her best by a foot. That would have won the competition if not her sixth and final toss of the afternoon, which resulted in an additional improvement of 15½ inches.

Tabor, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., earned his second victory in as many meets this season, with a put of 56-7½ on his first attempt. It was a huge improvement over his winning mark of 55-0¼ at the UW Indoor Preview in Seattle last week.

In all, Stanford had five competitors in action Saturday on the second day of the meet, including Katie Zingheim and Ellie McCardwell, who placed fifth and eighth, respectively, at the same height of 12-5½ in the women's pole vault.

The Cardinal returns to action on Friday and Saturday at the UW Invitational in Seattle.
