RACER Announces Sponsorship of Mission 29.2 Haiti Marathon+
LOS ANGELES - RACER™, the premier source of ready-to-hang wall frames designed specifically for race bibs and photos, announces its sponsorship of Mission 29.2's Haiti Marathon+. Mission 29.2 is a non-profit organization that organizes 29.2-mile runs in developing countries with a focus on raising funds for children's education. Held in Ounaminthe, Haiti, the event will take place on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
Mission 29.2's ultra marathon stems from American missionary Martha Walker's first journey to Ounaminthe, Haiti, in 2008 to serve in a local orphanage. Of the 8.7 million inhabitants of Haiti, over 50% are illiterate, and Walker was inspired to seek and provide exceptional educational opportunities for all children. Walker organized the first marathon in the area as a fundraising effort, and due to the limited route options, the run distance ended up being 29.2 miles long in order to finish the race at the city center. The distance would become a unique characteristic of this event, which would set this movement apart from a typical marathon and symbolize a larger purpose than just a running race.

Elite Fields Announced for 2013 Chevron Houston Marathon
HOUSTON - The 41st edition of the Chevron Houston Marathon Race Weekend features stacked fields in both the Chevron Houston Marathon and the Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Adding an element of excitement to the weekend will be a $50,000 bonus that will be awarded should the world record fall in the men's half-marathon. The gun is set to go off at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013.
"Deep fields increase the likelihood of runners working together in packs to achieve better times, and the four fields that our elite committee has assembled are without a doubt the deepest ever," said Brant Kotch, Race Director and President of the HMC Board of Directors. "These fields give us the best possible opportunity to equal last year's feat of four race records in one morning, and to do so with first rate, head-to-head competition. The camera at the finish line may get a lot of use next week."
