NOTE: We have also seen recent results of USA high school girls
1500m steeple, an event recognized in rule books and held in other
nations. But 3:03.23 winning time is faster than the World Record
for men’s 1500m flat race (no barriers). And even some races at
2000m are held without the number of hurdles specified by rules.
Steeple Report fact-checking can prevent publishing such flawed
results as well as times for solo “winners” without a competitor.
Steepler Safety Series – Part Four
Meet managers should get steeple barriers correctly placed on
the track well before race begins so that runners can practice and
warm up properly – as done in hurdle races at shorter distances.
This is even more important for steeplers, many with no access
to steeple equipment at home practice venues – and some for whom
a race is their first-ever attempt to clear unmovable steeple barriers.
