Women’s Steeplechase Report
Number 502 –- 2 May 2010
Our 15th Year – Readers from six continents

Results are for 3000m Steeple unless noted otherwise.

Only 79 days until 2010 World Junior Champs Steeple

Moncton, a city in Canada’s New Brunswick province, will host
the IAAF World Junior Championships from 19 to 25 July 2010.
Participating athletes must not be younger than 16 nor older than
19 as of 31 December 2010.

Although most nations seem to focus on 2000m steeple for junior
competitors the distance for World Junior Champs is 3000m. Entry
standard is 11 minutes achieved between 1 Jan 2009 and 5 July 2010.
WJC has scheduled girls round 1 (heats) for 0900 on Tuesday, July
20; the final is at 1930 Thursday evening, July 22.

Athletes select themselves for U.S. Team to 2010 World Junior
Championships by placing first or second in steeple at 1315 Friday,
June 25, in 2010 U.S. Junior Championships at Des Moines, Iowa.

The USATF entry standard is 11:10 for 3km steeple, or 7:25 for
2000m SC to be achieved between 25 June 2009 and 20 June 2010.
