SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco track and field team closed the regular season with one last feather in the cap, as Emma Stahr broke the school record in the 800 meters to earn a potential NCAA qualifying mark at the West Coast Last Chance Meet.

Stahr, a sophomore from Leipzig, Germany, rounded the track in 2:08.20 to erase the previous best mark in the books by half a second (Hillary Harris, 2:08.56, May 10, 2014). Heading into regional declarations week, the time is 56th in the West, where the top 48 athletes in each region to declare in each event will head into the postseason field.

Along with Stahr's solid run, redshirt freshman Tatjana Schulte turned in a 10,000 meter time of 34:34.40 in her first go at the longest distance on the track. The mark currently stands in 33rd in the region, giving Schulte the potential opportunity to go to prelims in the 5,000 or 10,000 meter distance, or both. Taking to the track with Schulte in the 10K, senior Ashley Moffett turned closed her career on the track with a personal best time of 36:07.86, more than 24 seconds  faster than her previous benchmark.

Other personal best performances were seen in the short distances at Cox Stadium, as underclassmen sprinters Chase Midyett and Amy Glaser improved upon their individual bests in the 200 meters, and junior Skylar Fenton joined Glaser in shaving off time on their personal best marks in the 400.

Now, the Dons await the final NCAA declaration and qualifying announcements with nearly a dozen athletes readying to take their place in the field at the NCAA West Region Preliminary Championships May 25-27 in Austin, Texas.
