USC Wins 12 Events On Final Day Of Trojan Invitational

USC won 12 events led by a pair of individual wins by freshman Jasmyne Graham during the final day of the Trojan Invitational held at Loker Stadium today (March 19). The first event on the track for the Trojans was the women's 4x100m relay and USC ran a team of Graham, sophomore Deanna Hill, sophomore Gabriela Cantrell and junior Destinee Brown. The quartet cruised to victory ignited by a blistering second leg by Deanna Hill to finish with a time of 44.41. USC's men's 4x100m relay team of freshman Dominic Davis, sophomore Ricky Morgan Jr., redshirt freshman Zyaire Clemes and sophomore Adoree' Jackson then won with a time of 39.93. Clemes put the Trojans solidly in front and Jackson finished it off. Junior Tanya Sapa won the women's shot put competition by nearly six feet with a big PR of 53-6.25 (16.31m). That mark moves her from eighth to fifth on USC's all-time women's shot put list. In the women's 1500m race, redshirt sophomore Rebekah Ent finished second with a PR of 4:31.66. Senior Katerina Berdousi was fifth overall in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:35.53 and senior Jenna Tong was just off her PR with a time of 4:42.19 to take 11th. Sophomore Jordon Wallin was fifth in the men's 1500m race with a PR of 4:00.33 and sophomore Mitchell Cameron was seventh with a PR of 4:03.77. Freshmen Trent Rule was 8th (4:06.33), Nicolaus Jakowec was 9th (4:10.77) and Garrett Mack was 10th (4:36.55). Former USC runner Myles Andrews finished third with a time of 3:52.98. Graham then had an impressive opening time of 13.44 (-0.7) to win the women's 100m HH, her first 100m HH race as a Trojan. Junior Amalie Iuel took third in the event with a PR of 13.72 (-0.7). The Trojans had no current athletes competing in the men's 110m HH, but former Trojan great Ryan Wilson won the even with a time of 13.95 (-0.6). Freshman Jordan Winters was the only Trojan in the women's high jump and she took fifth with a clearance of 5-1.00 (1.55m). Senior Felicia Horvath was the only Trojan in the women's pole vault and she placed second with a clearance of 12-1.50 (3.70m). That height tied her collegiate outdoor PR. Junior Cameron Pettigrew placed second in the women's 400m dash with a time of 54.97. She finished first among the college athletes. Clemes won the men's 400m dash with a time of 46.68 and 800m runner Robert Ford placed seventh in the 400m race with a PR of 48.29. The Trojans then won both the women's and men's 100m races. First, Brown won the women's 100m dash with a time of 11.62 (+0.2) and then Davis won the men's 100m with a time of 10.71 (-0.2). His actual time of 10.701 was .008 ahead of Eli Penick of CSUF who took second also with a time of 10.71. Senior captain Diego Lopez took third in the men's javelin throw with a PR of 189-4 (57.71m). His mark was a PR of over eight feet. USC's freshman Matthew Katnik and Nathan Bultman went 1-2 in the men's shot put competition with impressive marks. Katnik won the event with a best mark of 61-7.75 (18.79m) and Bultman took second with a throw of 58-7.25 (17.86m). Freshman Rachel Glynn was the top Trojan in the women's 800m race, winning her section and finishing third overall with a time of 2:12.27. Ent was seventh overall with a time of 2:14.55, sophomore Madison Ricks was eighth (2:14.73), freshman Taylor Seamans ninth (2:15.00), freshman Amber Gore 10th (2:15.49) and senior Natasha Strickland 12th (2:21.39). In the men's 800m race, Wallin was fourth with a time of 1:54.61 and senior captain Will Robinson was eighth at 2:04.50. Graham became a two-event winner when she took the women's long jump with a leap of 18-9.50 (5.71m). USC's women went 1-2-3 in the 200m dash as senior captain Jaide Stepter won with a PR of 23.23 (-1.2), sophomore Kendall Ellis was second with a PR of 23.44 (-1.2) and sophomore Gabriella Cantrell was third with a time of 23.67 (-1.2). Jumper/hurdler Graham finished 17th with a time of 25.26 (-1.1). Morgan Jr. won the men's 200m dash with a PR of 20.91 (+1.3). Davis took eighth in the 200m with a time of 21.91 (+0.3) and former Trojan Bryan Mercado had a time of 22.91 (+1.3) to finish 18th. Sophomore Dominic Smallwood won a two-man battle in the men's triple jump. After the only other competitor posted three straight fouls, Smallwood continued on to the finals alone. He had a best jump of 48-2.00/14.68m (-1.3) to win. In the women's javelin throw, heptathletes Iuel and freshman Lyndsey Lopes finished 10th and 11th respectively and newcomer to the roster K.C. Sullivan did not register a legal throw. Iuel had a best mark of 102-8 (31.29m) and Lopes 101-10 (31.05m). The Trojans closed out the meet with a pair of third place finishes in the 4x400m relays. USC's women's team of Pettigrew, Gore, Glynn and Seamans had a time of 3:52.43 to finish third. The men's team, consisting of Clemes, sophomore Alex Rohani, Ford and Robinson, took third with a time of 3:13.98. USC will be at home again next weekend hosting the Power Conference Cardinal & Gold Challenge, featuring USC, Ohio State, Florida and Texas. General admission for the Power Conference Cardinal & Gold Challenge is $10 with USC students with a valid USC ID allowed in for free. For youth 3-12 years of age and seniors 65+, the admission is $5. Children under 3 will be allowed in free.
