2016 USATF Future Stars Meets take place coast to coast INDIANAPOLIS - USATF has designated 44 community-based events in 20 states as 2016 USATF Future Stars Meets, USATF announced Tuesday.

A USATF initiative designed to provide significant support to mid-level, competitive track meets around the country, the Future Stars Meets program in its second year has more than doubled the number of supported meets.

"We are pleased by the growth of USATF Future Stars Meets," said USATF CEO Max Siegel. "By continuing to foster mid-level competitive opportunities outside the formal structure of USATF, we help develop a touchpoint for potential members, coaches and volunteers to enter the USATF family."

Beginning in April and continuing through July, Future Stars Meets will be held in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee and Washington.

USATF Future Stars Meets receive financial assistance, insurance, sanctioning, equipment, branding and ribbons from USATF. Meets are no-cost to participants and open to the public. Future Stars Meets organizers also host a minimum of two RunJumpThrow youth activity events during the year.

Children who participate in Future Stars Meets also are eligible for one of 800 free USATF Memberships, awarded by USATF through its local Associations, where Future Stars Meets are held.
