American Middle-Distance Stars Lead Blockbuster Field for NYRR Fifth Avenue Mile

NEW YORK - A trio of top American middle-distance runners -
Jenny Simpson, Mary Cain, and Matthew Centrowitz - will lead deep men's and women's professional fields at the NYRR Fifth Avenue Mile on Saturday, September 13, 2014, it was announced by Mary Wittenberg, president and CEO of New York Road Runners. Simpson will attempt to become the first three-time winner of the women's race and Centrowitz will try to repeat his 2012 victory. Cain, the 2014 World Junior champion at 3000 meters, will make her NYRR Fifth Avenue Mile and professional road race debut.

"The mile is a very familiar distance in running and serves as the backdrop for one of NYRR's most unique and celebrated events, the Fifth Avenue Mile," said Wittenberg. "In a footrace from the Met to Grand Army Plaza, Jenny, Mary, Matthew, and the rest of the professional field will take center stage on one of the world's most popular streets as they headline a celebration of running with thousands of others of all ages and abilities, from the kids in our youth mile, to the seniors in the George Sheehan Memorial Mile."

Elite Prize Purse Announced for 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon

HOUSTON - The Houston Marathon Committee (HMC) announced this week the elite prize purse for the 2015
Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston

Half Marathon. A total of $276,000 in guaranteed prize money
will be awarded to the top finishers in the four races on race day, including a $40,000 first place payout for both the men's and women's champions at the 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon.

180 Teams Complete 2014 GO! Missouri KT82 Trail Relay

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The inaugural GO! Missouri KT82 Trail Relay, which took place on Saturday, August 30, 2014, was well received by both participants and the communities along the 82-mile route. More than 180 teams started the race from Creve Coeur Park in St. Louis, and finished with a post-race party in the heart of wine country - Hermann, Mo. Participants from 19 different states registered for the first annual event.

"It was so inspiring to see all of the happy, smiling albeit tired participants when they crossed the finish line in Hermann," said Nancy Lieberman, GO! St. Louis President. "This event was more than a year in the planning, and our staff was very meticulous that every operational detail was executed with great care, and I think that really showed in the final result. The outpouring of positive and appreciative comments from participants after the race, ensured that the KT82 will be a premier race for many years to come."
