Northwestern Nabs Second at Badger Season-Opener in Madison
Sophomores Jena Pianin, Andrea Ostenso finish 1-2 for Wildcats
After a strong spring track season, sophomore Jena Pianin emerged as NU's top finisher at the Badger Season-Opener Friday night.

EVANSTON, Ill. -- One week later than anticipated, Northwestern raised the curtain on the 2014 campaign with a second-place finish at the Badger Season-Opener hosted by Wisconsin Friday night, led by a pair of sophomores in Jena Pianin and Andrea Ostenso.
Pianin placed fourth overall in the 4K race with a time of 14:12, while Ostenso also recorded a top-10 finish with an effort of 14:21. Junior Camille Blackman was third among Wildcats and 12th overall in 14:37, while a pair of freshmen -- Isabel Seidel (14:48) and Kinsey Harmon (14:55) -- rounded out the list of NU point-scorers in their Northwestern debuts.
The Wildcats, who won the Badger Season-Opener one year ago, finished second only to host Wisconsin with 56 team points. Marquette (76) was third, followed by Loyola (Chicago) in fourth with 85.

In two weeks, Northwestern will be back on the course when they head to the Big Ten Preview Meet hosted by Iowa, site of the 2014 Big Ten Championships.
