BOSTON - Dave McGillivray of DMSE Spo rts, the renowned race director of the B.A.A. Boston Marathon, has a busy spring and summer planned.

On April 21, he will run his 42nd Boston Marathon run - after everyone has crossed the finish line on April 21 and his work is done - to benefit the Martin W. this link set up for McGillivray's run.

"This is a wonderful foundation for a very special boy," McGillivray said. "I am proud to be running in his honor that day."

McGillivray actually ran the entire historic 26.2-mile course this past Saturday as a training run and felt great. "Finally, I am in decent shape this time of year and am looking forward to marathon day like all the other 36,000 runners."

JUST RUN® Youth Fitness Program Hits Major Milestones

CARMEL, Calif. -- JUST RUN, the youth fitness program administered by the Big Sur Internati onal Marathon, surpassed two milestones in a single week. In late March, nearly nine years since its inception, two million miles were logged into the system. Within days, the program surpassed another goal of reaching 15,000 children in a single school year.

"This is phenomenal for us," said Susan Love, JUST RUN program director. "It took six years to reach one million miles and just three to gain another million. The program is definitely growing in size and stature throughout our region and beyond."

Each year the program begins anew, registering schools and individual classes or grade levels into the web-based system. The growth of enrollment has been steadily climbing, topping out last year's participation of 11,418. The JUST RUN team set an ambitious goal of 15,000 children for the 2013-14 school year and surpassed this number just eight months into the program. Currently there are JUST RUN programs being administered 122 schools throughout 15 states.

Gebremeskel, Bleasdale Win 29th Carlsbad 5000; Lagat Sets USA 5K Road Record

CARLSBAD, Calif. (March 30, 2014) - Racing against 39-year-old multiple Olympic medalist and four-time w orld champion Bernard Lagat at the 29th Carlsbad 5000, 24-year-old
Dejen Gebremeskel (right, courtesy PhotoRun) of Ethiopia knew he had to use experience to his advantage on Sunday morning.

Employing two hard, sustained surges inside the final kilometer of the race,
the three-time defending champion out-ran Lagat-and everyone else-to the tape, breaking it in 13 minutes and 13 seconds to claim his fourth straight victory. Lagat, who was racing in Carlsbad for the first time, held on for second in 13:18, breaking Marc Davis' longstanding American record of 13:24, set in 1996. Kenyan Augustine Choge
finished third in 13:22.

"To win here for the fourth time is very special," said Gebremeskel. "After the first mile, there was wind and I could not push. Bernard is a 1500m runner; that is his specialty and he has a good kick. I knew I could not sprint with him, so I had to go."
