Running USA Race Calendar Date Submissions

Running USA members are eligible for promotion of their October 2014-December 2015 calendar is now in production. There will be 100,000 copies distributed at race expos and running stores around the country. We ask that you submit your race dates via our online member portal, using your user name and password: Click here to login.

Run Like A Mother® is an inspiring, celebratory brand involving the entire family that engages women at every stage of a woman's life. We are a community of women joined together by the power of running who share a desire to live healthy, balanced lives. We offer support, motivation, inspiration and education. Through merchandising and a variety of communication touch points, the Run Like A Mother mission extends beyond race day.


The mission of Run Like A Mother® is to fuel a woman's journey toward health and wellness. Empower with education and training programs. Inspire with communities, events and races. Enable through programs and partnerships.





The Run Like A Mother program includes a national women's 5K race to take place on Mother's Day weekend in eight markets - Ridgefield, Conn.; Portland, Ore.; Davis, Calif.; Raleigh, N.C.; Seattle, Wash.; Milwaukee, Wis., Frisco, Texas; and Hinsdale, Ill. Each race market will include a charity partnership that allows participants to donate to directly support the community.

Fetal Health Announces Call for Grant Proposals

In efforts to continue supporting families affected by fetal syndromes and the medical teams that provide their care, the Fetal Health Foundation will award its first research grant later this year.



Basno Celebrates Boston Finishers

Boston Marathon organizers will, for the third consecutive year, offer finishers' digital medals from Basno. Digital medals (or "badges") are online versions of the medals finishers wear proudly around their necks. Marathon organizers will also recognize the thousands of official Boston Marathon volunteers with badges, as they are a key part of the fabric of both the city and this historic race.



Council For Responsible Sport Touts Breadth of Certification Requests

In its first six years of operation, the Council for Responsible Sport certified a total of 76 sports events. So far this year, 33 certification applications have been received; 21 of those are from new events and 12 are applications from events that are due for biennial re-certification. At some point this year, the milestone of having certified 100 events will be achieved.



Portland Marathon Event Directors College Opens Registration

The 2014 Portland Marathon Event Directors College, scheduled to coincide with the 43rd Portland Marathon, will take place October 2-4, 2014, at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Portland. An interactive and educational experience, the Event Directors College is primarily a "tactical" hands-on workshop/conference where the details of how to put on an event of any size are reviewed and discussed.



Houston Marathon Committee Announces Registration



Registration for the 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon Lottery will be open June 4 - June 19, 2014. Guaranteed HERO entries and Run For a Reason official charity entries will be available beginning on June 4, while early registration for Legacy runners, 5-9 year finishers, deferrals, HARRA, time qualifiers and "third time's a charm" runners will be open from May 6 - May 29, 2014. The 43rd annual event will be held on January 18, 2015.



New Balance Falmouth Road Race Moves Start Time

Responding to requests from runners, the race's medical team, and members of the affected communities in Falmouth and Woods Hole, the New Balance Falmouth Road Race will change its start time to 9:00 a.m., one hour earlier than in the past. This year's 42nd running will be held on August 17. Race registration will open for Falmouth residents and taxpayers on May 1, closing on May 7, with non-resident lottery registration beginning on May 8, and closing on May 18.



Big Sur Marathon Offers Online Resources

Big Sur Marathon images, maps, runner stories, event fact sheets and downloadable video are available for media use at a newly-created online digital media center. The new website offers media resources for all Big Sur Marathon events throughout the year.



Mankato Marathon Story to Receive Lifetime Bib

The Mankato Marathon, presented by Mayo Clinic Health System on October 18-19, is looking for bold stories and is offering free race registrations for life for the boldest story. Participants of past Mankato Marathon races or the upcoming 2014 races can submit video stories detailing overcoming a hardship to run a race, an inspiring story of why they started running, or a touching story about why they are running or have ran a Mankato Marathon race.

Across the Bay 10k Announces New Program

Race officials of the Across the Bay 10K, which sold out last month, announced that Nationwide Insurance will sponsor a "Make it Count" program that will encourage runners to use this historic event to make an impact on participating charities, personal goals and overcoming fears of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which was recently named by Travel + Leisure Magazine as "one of the 10 scariest bridges in the world."


Fleet Feet Announces New Franchise
Fleet Feet, Incorporated, announced that John Long will convert his Minneapolis-based Marathon Sports Run/Walk store to a Fleet Feet Sports franchise.

US Team to compete in the NACAC Mountain Running Championships on July 20, 2014, will include Eric Blake, 35, West Hartford, CT, Ryan Woods, 35, Boone, NC, Jordan Chavez, 20, Southlake, TX, Danny Martinez, 20, Alhambra, CA, Brandy Erholtz, 36, Evergreen, CO, Amber Reece-Young (formerly Moran), 35, Arden, NC, Maria Dalzot, 26, Bellingham, WA, and Christine Lundy, 43, Sausalito, CA.


When the approximately 3000 Peachtree Jr. participants cross the finish line in Piedmont Park this year on May 17, Olympic and World Champions will be on hand to offer guidance and support to the young runners and will include Adam Nelson, Chaunte Lowe, Dwight Phillips, and Terrence Trammell.
