Jacoby McLean Jones (born July 11, 1984) is an American football wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football at Lane College.

[edit] Early yearsJones attended Marion Abramson High School in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track. In basketball, he was an All-Metropolitan selection and an All-Area selection. In track, he was an All-Metropolitan selection and an All-Area selection.
[edit] College careerJones originally enrolled on a track scholarship at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2002, but transferred to the Division II school Lane College in 2003. At Lane College, Jones became a three time All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) player his sophomore, junior and senior seasons as well as an excellent punt/kick returner.
[edit] Professional career[edit] Houston TexansJones was drafted by the Houston Texans in the 3rd round (73rd overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. His first touchdown reception was against the Tennessee Titans in week 2 of the 2009 season.[1] He also returned his first punt for a 70 yard score against Miami in week 6 of 2009. Jones continued to be relatively valuable as both a receiver and a returner, though he sometimes struggled with drops.
In the AFC Divisional Playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens, Jones muffed a punt that contributed to the Texans defeat.[2] He was tackled by Cary Williams and the ball was recovered by Jimmy Smith.
On May 1, 2012, Jones was released by the Texans.[3]
[edit] Baltimore RavensOn May 8, 2012, Jones signed a two-year, $7 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens.[4]
On October 14, 2012, Jones returned a kick-off for 108 yards for a touchdown in a win against the Dallas Cowboys, tying an NFL record for longest kick return.[5]
On November 11, 2012, Jones returned a kick-off for 105 yards in the Ravens' 55-20 win over Oakland Raiders.
On November 18, 2012, in a division game against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers, Jones returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown, helping the Ravens win the game 13–10.[6] It is the first time the Ravens returned a punt for a touchdown against the Steelers.
On December 26, 2012, Jones was named to his first Pro Bowl as a kick returner for the AFC roster.
On January 12, 2013, Jones caught a 70 yard touchdown pass with 31 seconds left against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Playoff game. The touchdown tied the game at 35 and preceded a 38-35 double overtime victory for the Ravens.
On February 3, 2013, Jones started the 3rd quarter by returning a kickoff for a 108-yard touchdown in Super Bowl XLVII against the San Francisco 49ers in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. The 108-yard return tied the longest kickoff return in NFL history and playoffs history, as well as the longest play in Super Bowl history. He added 93 kick return yards, 28 punt return yards, and a reception for 56 yards and a touchdown, breaking the all-purpose yards record in a Super Bowl with 289. The Ravens eventually won against the 49ers in the Super Bowl 34-31.

[edit] DWI investigationOn March 16, 2008, Jones was arrested in Midtown near downtown Houston under the suspicion of drunk driving by The Houston Police Department. An HPD spokesman did not specify why they pulled over Jones and said it was simply a DWI Investigation and that an accident wasn't involved. He was later released on a $500 bail for a first offense.[8]
