Lagat named Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS- Bernard Lagat has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after setting the American record over 5,000m Friday at the 2010 ExxonMobil Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway.

A two-time Olympic and three-time World Outdoor Championships medalist, Lagat ran 12:54.12 to break the previous American record of 12:56.27 set by Dathan Ritzenhein last year. The new record thrashed Lagat's previous personal best of 12:59.22, which he ran in 2006.
