Fast Fields Set for Sunday's Suja Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Half Marathon


SAN DIEGO - A year ago, Bernard Koech of Kenya ran the fastest half-marathon time in the world for 2013 at the Suja Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Half Marathon. Can that feat be accomplished again this year?


Considering the talent in this year's elite field, Koech's 58 minute, 41 second performance-which is also the fastest half-marathon time ever on U.S. soil-could be matched or bettered on Sunday. Topping the field are
Ryan Hall, the only American to break the one-hour barrier in the half-marathon with 59:43 and a two-time Olympian in the marathon, and Dickson Chumba
of Kenya, this year's Tokyo Marathon champion.

GO! for a Cause Program Raises $350,000 in 2014



ST. LOUIS, Mo. - GO! St. Louis, a local non-profit organization that specializes in providing fitness events and programs for the region on a year-round basis, announced that the GO! for a Cause charity program helped 30 area charities raise $350,000 for their causes as part of the 14thGO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend.


The program debuted in 2010, and continues to expand each year to include new charities and opportunities for official partners to increase fundraising and visibility for their cause. Since the program's inception, more than $1,568,967 has been raised for a variety of local charities.

National Running Day Slated For June 4


LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Little Rock Marathon announced it will partner with Go! Running and Rock City Running to host National Running Day on Wednesday, June 4 at 6 am in Murray Park (Pavilion Entrance).


Held annually on the first Wednesday in June, National Running Day is a grass roots, collaborative effort of leaders in the running industry to promote running/walking as a healthy, easy and accessible form of exercise.



"Everyone can run or walk any distance they desire," said
Gina Pharis, Co-Executive of the Little Rock Marathon. "This day is about coming together at as community to celebrate living a healthy lifestyle. To celebrate our strong running community, and to encourage those who have been thinking about starting to meet some of the people in this community and take their very first steps to get started!"

Crim Receives $20,000 Grant for Summer Running Clubs


FLINT, Mich.- Thanks to the generous donations of Genesee County residents, the Crim Fitness Foundation received $20,000 through Sports Matter, an online fundraising campaign hosted by Dick's Sporting Goods. The Crim Fitness Foundation raised $10,000 through community donations, resulting in a $10,000 matching grant from Dick's Sporting Goods. The funds will be used to offset the cost of the CrimFit Summer Running Clubs for youth throughout Genesee County, including several in Flint.


"This community has been extremely supportive of the Crim over the years and this is a great example of how important health, safety and youth development is to the people in Genesee County," said Program Manager

Berhane, Daska Win 36th
BolderBOULDER


BOULDER, Colo. (May 26, 2014) - BolderBOULDER, America's All-Time Best 10K, announced that 52,115 walkers, joggers and runners registered for the 2014 race and 45,828 racers crossed the finish line this Memorial Day. The registration and finisher numbers do not reflect the additional 2,600 service men and women that participated in BolderBOULDER military satellite races around the world.

This year's men's individual International Team Challenge winner was Afewerki Berhane from Eritrea, finishing the race in 29:11 and the women's winner was Mamitu Daska from Ethiopia with a time of 32:22. The men's team from Eritrea and the women's team from Ethiopia claimed first in the team competition.


Also, new to this year, the BolderBOULDER added a bounty of $1,886 (the year in which Memorial Day was founded) to any American finishing ahead of any member of the highest placing American team.

Sean Quigley from the USA Blue teamed received the bounty, finishing 7th overall, as well as USA Blue women's team members
Brianne Nelson and
Mattie Suver. Shalane Flanaganled the American women in second place overall.
