Member Profile: Montgomery County Road Runners Club

Montgomery County Road Runners Club's (MCRRC) mission is "to be the leading authority on the organization of running events and programs in Montgomery County, striving to meet the needs of individual runners and community organizations engaged in running and fitness activities."

The club was founded early in 1978 and became an RRCA member in 2013 with only 20 members, less than 10 club races, and a $718 budget. As years went by, the club grew in members, races, training programs and services offered. Now the club has over 4,000 members and conducts more than 35 races, a budget exceeding $100,000, weekly training runs, a competitive racing team, and a multitude of training programs. MCRRC also provides race management services to local groups who want to put on a race.

One of MCRRC's members, Todd Carter, is a pace coach and very new RRCA race director in the club. Carter currently has his RRCA and USATF Level 1 certification. Besides working with MCRRC, Carter is pursuing a Masters degree in healthcare and working at a local hospital. Through MCRRC's membership with Running USA, Carter hopes to learn more about the running industry, grow his involvement in the sport and share his knowledge with other club members.

All Member Profiles will also be featured on our website for one full week following the publication in Running USA Industry E-News. To be featured in this section, contact nancy@runningusa.org.
