THIS YEAR: Sophomore Josh Mance had an outstanding freshman year, placing his name among USC's all-time top 10 in the 400m dash and earning All-American honors in the event. He has a chance to have a very special career at USC.

2011: Earned All-America honors in the 400m dash by placing sixth at the NCAA Championships with a time of 45.66. Set a PR and a USC freshman record with a time of 45.29 in the semifinals on June 8, which is the ninth-fastest 400m dash all-time by a Trojan male. Also ran a leg for USC's 4x400m relay team which placed ninth and earned second-team All-America honors. Posted the fastest 400m time of 45.47 at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in Eugene, Ore. He ran on the 4x400m relay team which had the second-fastest time of 3:05.08 which advanced to the NCAAs. Placed fourth in the 400m at the Pac-10 Championships with a time of 46.06 and helped USC capture the 4x400m title with a time of 3:03.38. Took fourth in the USC-UCLA Dual Meet 200m dash with a wind-legal PR of 21.20 and ran on the winning 4x400m team. Won the men's 400m Dash Olympic Development Elite race at Mt. SAC on April 16 with a then-PR of 45.74.

HIGH SCHOOL: Mance prepped at Don Lugo High in Chino, Calif. Won a gold medal running the leadoff leg to the U.S.'s 4x400m relay team which posted a world junior-leading time of 3:04.76 at the World Junior Championships held in Stade Moncton, in Moncton, Canada last July. Also took fifth place in the open 400m with a time of 46.84. He won the California State 400m title with a nation's best time of 45.90. He also placed fourth in the 200m dash at the state meet with a wind-aided time of 21.19, after posting a wind-aided PR of 21.18 in the semifinals. He represented the United States at the 2009 IAAF World Youth Games in Italy and took the silver medal in the 400m race, finishing second to Kirani James (Grenada) who as a freshman last season at Alabama won the NCAA 400m dash title

PERSONAL: Mance was born on March 21, 1992 in Pomona, Calif...His hobby is playing with animals and is a fan of Jay-Hawt and Kid Cudi...Has been involoved with the Big Brothers program.
