PRINCETON, N.J. (4/6/12) - Sophomore Conor McCullough set an Ivy League and Princeton record in the hammer throw to kick off the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday, April 6 in Princeton.

McCullough won the hammer by throwing to 74.01 (242-10) on his third attempt. All five of his scored throws were over 71.31 meters. The next best throw was 10 meters short of that at 68.31 (224-01). McCullough held the previous best program and league records of 71.47 (234-06) which he set just weeks ago at the University of Central Florida Invitational.

Classmate Brad Pelisek threw a PR in the discus. Pelisek cleared 38.22 (125-05) on his first attempt at Weaver Stadium.

The two-time NCAA runner-up in the steeplechase, senior Donn Cabral proved he will challenge for the national title once again this year. Cabral set a meet record with a time of 8:39.92 about four seconds off his personal best to win the event. Freshman Eddie Owens ran his first collegiate steeple and finished at 9:08.12 for seventh place.

Sophomore Alejandro Arroyo Yamin won the final event of the night, the men's 10,000. Arroyo Yamin ran a meet record and a PR of 29:27.00. Princeton accounted for five of the top-10 finishers in the event. Senior Brian Leung was the runner-up, crossing the line at 29:34.72. Sophomore Tyler Udland was fourth at 29:39.81 and senior Thomas Dialynas was sixth at 29:41.22, a PR.

Day 2 begins for the men tomorrow at noon with the men's shot put.
