Faldermeyer, Hobson, Kosecki & Weber Post Wins at Pepsi Invite The Bruins finish fourth as a team in Eugene at the Pepsi Invitational

Alec Faldermeyer (SO New Hampton, NY/Minisink Valley), Taylor Hobson (RS SR Upland, CA/Upland), Matthew Kosecki (RS SO Humble, TX/Humble)
and Mark Weber (RS JR Oceanside, CA/El Camino) highlighted the men's track and field team in Eugene, OR on Saturday as all four posted individual event wins at the Pepsi Invitational. Oregon won the quadrangular scored meet with 204 points, followed by Texas A&M (190), Washington (138) and the Bruins (134).

UCLA posted four lifetime-best marks and 10 season-best performances during the meet.

For the third straight meet, three-time All-American Alec Faldermeyer was again victorious in the hammer throw as he won the event on Saturday by nearly 20 feet with a mark of 216-9.

Kosecki tossed a season-best of 182-1 in the discus to notch his second win of the season. Hobson also posted a season-best as he won the high jump with a mark of 6-9.75. Weber won the shot put with a mark of 53-00.75.

In the javelin, redshirt freshman Derek Eager (RS FR Renton, WA/Tahoma
had a solid mark of 226-7 for third-place.

Junior Dillon Stucky (RS JR Camarillo, CA/Desert)had a big day in the triple jump as he posted a new lifetime-best of 50-1.25 to finish second overall.

Sophomore Jacob Wood (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel) was the top finisher in the steeple as he ran a lifetime-best of 9:08.11 to finish fifth. Philip MacQuitty (SO Palo Alto, CA/Palo Alto)was the top finisher in the 1500m as the sophomore ran a lifetime-best of 3:49.24 to finish sixth overall. In the 800m, sophomore Sam DeMello (RS FR Thousand Oaks, CA/Westlake)placed fourth with a time of 1:51.97.

In the 5000m, redshirt freshman Dustin Fay (RS FR Lake Arrowhead, CA/Rim of the World )ran a lifetime-best of 14:05.54 to finish third overall. That time will move him into the top 20 in the NCAA this season.

The pole vault and the 200m were a rough one for the men's team as sophomore Mike Woepse (Tustin, CA/Mater Dei), who ranks No. 2 in the NCAA in the pole vault, no heighted and senior Karlton Rolle (SR Nassau, Bahamas/Nassau Christian Academy) pulled up with injury in the 200m.

Before going down with an injury in the 200m, Rolle ran a season-best of 10.58 in the 100m to place sixth overall and ran on the 400m relay. The 4x100m relay team of Jamal Alston (SR Vista, CA/Rancho Buena Vista), Rolle, Maxwell Dyce (JR Moorpark, CA/Moorpark ) and R.J. Frasier (SO Elk Grove, CA/Jesuit) finished second with a time of 40.69. Freshman Pete Lauderdale (FR Carson, CA/Junipero Serra) was fourth in the 400m with a time of 48.55, while fellow newcomer Laijon White (Los Angeles, CA/Rancho Cucamonga)was seventh in the 200m (22.08).

UCLA returns home to Drake Stadium for its next meet as they host the annual Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational Apr. 12-14.
