Lida continues to roll at Masters World Indoor Championships

JYVASKYLA, Finland – Robert Lida (Houston Elite) recorded his second world record in as many days to win one of two gold medals for Team USA during the third day of the World Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships from Central Finland Thursday. The meet continues Friday and will run through Sunday.

Lida (M75) grabbed the world record in the 200m with a time of 27.64 to follow up the world mark he set in the 60m Wednesday. Coreen Steinbach (W60) also won a gold medal Thursday in the 3,000m with a time of 12:28.86. Team USA also picked up three silver medals and one bronze medal. The performances bring the total of American gold medals to eight for the week and a total of 22 overall, which is currently the sixth most medals among all countries.

Winning silver medals Thursday included: Jeanne Daprano (W75) in the 200m with a time of 36.29; Phil Raschker (W65) in the 200m in 30.28 and Mary Harada (W75) in the 3000m with a time of 17:16.23.

Robert Cahners (M65) won the team a bronze medal Thursday in the weight throw with a mark of 17.47m/57-3.
