Woodland's own USATF Track and Field Club "Yolo Striders" hosted their first annual The Holiday Pole Vault Competition in Woodland at the club warehouse known as The Factory. The event was a huge success attracting 19 foot vaulter Paul Lynchfield, the 2011 CIF State Champion in the men's pole vault (Ian Rock), a local 12' female vaulter in Sydney Blakeley of Ponderosa High and a great turnout of local high school and masters vaulters from as far away as Redwood City, California. Woodland High School pole vault coach Scott Strohmeyer and Pioneer coach Mike Hochderffer combined their talents and resources to host this first ever event that was deemed a huge success.
A short meet summary and complete results should follow later this afternoon or early evening.
