NCS CROSS COUNTRY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
POST-EVENT MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Present: Angela Paradise (DFAL); Jim Tracy (BCL-West); Steve Gregg (BCL-East); Chuck Woolridge (DFAL); Albert Caruana (At-large); Tony Kauke (At-large); Eddie Salazar (EBAL); Peter Brewer (DVAL); Doyle O’Regan (BSAL); Manny Myers (DFAL); Keith Conning (At-large); Bri Niemi (NCS Staff).

Absent: Jason Jacobsen (MCAL).

1. NCS DIVISIONS
Niemi presented the group with the divisions for 2012. Not all schools had reported their enrollment numbers, but as they did, the document would be updated and approved at the March SAC meeting.

2. EVALUATION OF 2011 NCS/LES SCHWAB TIRES CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
a. Barricade mats so that runners warming up do not cross the mat and skew results.
b. Better visibility is needed for Keith Conning, possibly moving him down lower to the finish line.
c. Check with Sean O’Laughlin to see if more pads can be used on the course?
d. Better sound is needed on the course- explore wireless speaker system.
e. Need to establish a lost and found- not at the announcer booth.
f. Extend corral to limit people crowding area near portable- different exit system would help this.
g. Course monitors were very good.
h. Use chute volunteers elsewhere on the course.
i. CHO needs to be directed to stay 30 minutes after the last race.
j. Scissors needed at finish corral.
k. Continue to discuss with Sean about number of entries per team and if 7 should be the limit, to prevent non-returned chips.
l. Place soccer benches facing outward with table and water in between.
m. Review the information being put in the packets- what does and doesn’t need to be in?

The group VOTED (8-0-1) to follow the state order and state time schedule for races and awards in 2012.

The group agreed to nominate Chuck Woolridge for the 2012 NCS Honor Coach Award.

The financial summary for the 2011 championship was reviewed. Niemi reported that when all the expenses had been accounted for, the net gain would be a little less than 11,000. She noted that due to the increase in expenses (chip timing specifically), entry fees would need to be raised in 2012. The group did not see a problem with this and also noted that fees had not been increased since 2006.

3. LOCATION OF 2012 NCS/LES SCHWAB TIRES CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The group had a lengthy discussion regarding possible hosting sites for 2012 and beyond, as the Ukiah cross country coach had expressed interest in hosting the section meet. The group would relay its concerns to Ukiah, but was open to discussing the matter with the school/coach. No decision was made on a site for 2012.
