Olympians Kruger, Kia Davis Highlight New Additions to Division II Athlete Hall of Fame
Six will be honored with ceremony to be held a month from today

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Monday that the Association will induct six new members to their Division II Track & Field Athlete Hall of Fame. Christopher Coleman, Kia Davis, Meredith Davis, Janet Kogo, A.G. Kruger, and Petra Juraskova will be honored with an induction ceremony to be held Wednesday, May 26, in Charlotte, N.C., site of the upcoming NCAA Division II Championships.
Christopher Coleman, Saint Augustine’s
Coleman was a three-time NCAA triple jump champion, capturing back-to-back indoor titles in 1994 and 1995 and an outdoor title in 1995. Coleman earned All-America honors 14 times with the jumps in the span between 1992 and 1995 and was a member of six national championship teams at Saint Augustine’s. Coleman was the founder and is the coach of the Carolina All-Stars Youth Track & Field Team in North Carolina.
Kia Davis, Saint Augustine’s
A six-time Division II national champion, Kia Davis specialized in the 200- and 400-meter events. At the 2001 national outdoor championships, Davis won titles in the 200 meters and with the Falcons’ 4x100-meter relay team. Davis, originally of Raleigh, N.C., was named the CIAA’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2001 after claiming conference crowns in four events. Davis was a 2008 Olympian in the 200 and 400 for Liberia and a World Championship 400-meter participant in 2009. Davis holds Liberian national records in six events which includes her 400-meter personal best of 51.55.
Meredith Davis, Morningside College
The 2001 and 2002 USTFCCCA National Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year, Davis won NCAA Division II heptathlon titles in both of those years. Originally from Sioux City, Iowa, Davis was also a two-time national runner-up in the long jump and earned a total of 15 All-America certificates. In total, Davis was a 13-time North Central Conference Champion and was responsible for school records in 13 events. In 2002, Davis finished fifth at the USATF Championships in the heptathlon, and, in 2004, Davis participated in the USATF Olympic Trials in the event.
Janet Kogo, Harding
Kogo won three NCAA titles in the 2005 track & field seasons which included a 5000-, 10,000-meter double win at the outdoor national championships in Abilene, Texas. At the 2005 NCAA Indoor Championships, Kogo set a then-championships 5000-meter record with a winning time of 16:19.59 and was later named the USTFCCCA Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year for Division II. Kogo, a six-time All-American across all seasons, was also two-time NCAA region champion in cross country. Kogo was a two-time Gulf South Champion, a two-time Academic All-Gulf South honoree, set seven school records, and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
A.G. Kruger, Morningside College
Kruger, originally from Sioux City, Iowa, was the NCAA Division II Champion in the hammer throw in 2001 and North Central Conference Champion in the hammer and discus. Kruger is most widely known for his post-collegiate success, having notched appearances in two Olympic Games and three World Championships. Kruger was the 2008 Olympic Trials champion and has won the hammer at four USATF Championships. In addition, Kruger has won five USATF Indoor Championships with the weight.
Petra Juraskova, Cal State LA
Juraskova, a five-time NCAA Division II Champion, twice swept shot put national titles in both indoor and outdoor seasons, adding a discus crown in 1997. Juraskova was named the CCAA Female Athlete of the Year in 1996 and 1997, becoming the first to win the conference award two years in a row and the second to win it more than once. A 2009 Cal State LA Hall of Fame inductee, Juraskova ranks in the all-time national Division II top 10 in the shot put and discus, claiming collegiate personal bests of 52-0 (15.85m) and 179-9 (54.78m), respectively.
