Dons' Krchova Wins 3000SC

(Los Angeles) - Eva Krchova won the women's 3000 steeplechase Friday as the USF Track and Field team competed at the Jackie Joyner Kersee/Rafer Johnson Invitational at UCLA in Los Angeles.
Krchova won the event with a mark of 10:35.80. The race was the first time the freshman competed in the event at the collegiate level.
"Eva was impressive in her first steeple," commented head coach Helen Lehman-Winters. "She ran away from the field easily in the last mile."
The second place finisher in the event, finished six seconds have Krchova with a mark of 10:41.83.
On the men's side, senior Alex Nelson finished fifth in the men's 1500 with a season-best time of 3:52.45.
Competition will continue this weekend for USF as it competes at the Chico Twilight in Chico, Calif.
